Professional In-Home Physical Therapy Throughout Central Oregon
In-home physical therapy brings expert rehabilitation services directly to your home. Our licensed physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) provide personalized treatment plans to improve your mobility, strength, balance, and overall function - without the stress and transportation challenges of traveling to a clinic.
Who Benefits from In-Home Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is ideal for many seniors as it helps with fall recovery and prevention, balance and gait disorders, chronic pain management from arthritis or back pain, weakness or mobility decline, COPD or cardiac rehabilitation, and anyone with difficulty leaving home for appointments. It is especially needed to help with post-surgery recovery including joint replacement, fracture repair, and other surgical procedures.
Comprehensive Physical Therapy Services
Your care begins with a comprehensive initial evaluation including detailed assessment of mobility, strength, balance, and function, identification of fall risks in your home, personalized treatment plan development, and goal setting tailored to your needs.
Our strength training programs include progressive exercises to rebuild or maintain muscle strength, functional strength for daily activities, use of resistance bands, weights, and bodyweight exercises, and focus on legs, core, and upper body as needed for your goals.
Balance and fall prevention services include balance exercises and training, gait (walking) training and correction, environmental safety assessment of your home, and strategies to reduce fall risk by 70% or more. We provide mobility and flexibility work including range of motion exercises, stretching and flexibility programs, joint mobilization techniques, and methods to ease stiffness and improve movement.
Pain management techniques include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises for pain relief, postural training and body mechanics education, and strategies for managing chronic pain conditions. Post-surgical rehabilitation follows evidence-based protocols for recovery, includes scar tissue mobilization, progressive return to function, and coordination with your surgeon.
Functional training focuses on real-world activities including practice with activities of daily living (ADLs), stair training and navigation, transfer training for bed, chair, and toilet, and practicing real-world movement patterns. We also conduct home safety assessments to identify fall hazards, provide recommendations for home modifications, assess and train on assistive devices, and optimize your environment for safety.
Conditions We Treat
Our orthopedic expertise covers arthritis, joint replacement, fractures, and sprains. We treat neurological conditions including stroke, Parkinson's disease, neuropathy, and balance disorders. Our cardiac and pulmonary services address heart disease, COPD, and post-hospitalization recovery. We manage chronic pain including back pain, neck pain, and fibromyalgia. Our fall-related services address fear of falling, previous falls, and balance deficits. We also treat general weakness from deconditioning and mobility decline.
Benefits of In-Home Physical Therapy
Home-based therapy offers unmatched convenience with no travel required, no transportation stress, and sessions in your familiar environment. You receive personalized care with one-on-one attention every session, treatment tailored to your home environment, and focus on your specific goals and challenges.
The real-world application means you practice functional tasks in your actual home, address your specific environment's challenges, and train where you'll actually be using your new skills. This approach delivers better outcomes with higher adherence to exercise programs, reduced fall risk in your actual living space, and faster return to independence.
Family involvement is encouraged as caregivers can participate and learn, family members can observe and support, and everyone learns proper techniques together.
Medicare Coverage and Costs
Medicare Part B covers in-home physical therapy when prescribed by your doctor as medically necessary, you're homebound or have difficulty leaving home without assistance, and services are provided by a licensed physical therapist. After your deductible, Medicare pays 80% and you pay 20% coinsurance. With Medigap or Medicare Advantage, you often have minimal to no cost.
We verify coverage before starting services so you know exactly what costs to expect.
What to Expect
Therapy sessions typically last 45-60 minutes, including exercises, manual therapy, and education. Most patients have 2-3 sessions per week for 4-12 weeks, though this varies based on your condition and goals. We bring what's needed and can recommend affordable items for your home exercise program. You'll receive exercises to do between sessions to maximize your progress.
